Lake Titicaca

Waiting for our connection to Puno, basically the next bus that can along
Puno

Puno (3800m)is the normal entry to Lake Titicaca is a days bus ride from Cusco. Central Puno’s busy, narrow streets caters well for tourists. Ferries leave from the dock around 8am for tours of the Lake and its islands and although many hotels in town offer these tours, but it is easy to organise them directly with the cooperatives from the island communities at the dock. Typical tours visit the unique reed islands of Uros on the way to Amanati where on arrival you are allocated to a family who accommodates you for the night. You then have the afternoon to explore the island and climb up to the summit for fantastic views over the island and across the lake to the mountains of Bolivia. The next day the ferry takes you to visit the island of Taquille before heading back to Puno.
