Nevado Pisco and Laguna 69

Start of the walk in to Pisco Base Camp from the road at 3900m

Approaching Pisco Base Camp

Nevado Pisco (5752m) from base camp

Chopicalqui (6354m) from base camp

Huanhoy from base camp

Looking over the morraine we had to cross to the Moraine Camp

Early morning on the climb up to the saddle

Looking across the Paron valley to Caraz (6025m) and the south side of Artesonraju (6025m). The Santa Cruz valley (see Alpamayo Circuit post) is just the other side of these peaks

Piramide (5885m) from the saddle

A clear view of the summit from the saddle before the cloud cap descended

Cloud cap descending on the summit

Summit shot, not a place to hang around

Looking down over the glacier towards Base Camp

Chopicalqui, Huascaran South (6768m) and Huascaran North  (6655m)

Chacaraju

Laguna 69, one of the most popular day trekking trips from Huarez

The south face of Chacraraju (6112m) from Laguna 69, incredibly foreshortened!

Spending the night meant we had the place to ourselves (apart from a few cows) before the large trekking groups arrive in the middle of the day

The outlet from the Laguna showing the current relatively low level of the lake

Heading down the valley with Huascaran North ahead

Chacraraju from further down the Quebrada Yanapaqcha (valley)
